We also have superb
self-catering accommodation in St Andrews.

In the Area

The loch is a playground - boats can be launched from one of the local hotels and both fishing permits and boat hire are available at the village shop. Loch Earn is a well-established water-skiing and sailing centre.

Glen Tarken is literally on your doorstep. Take the estate road that passes your door, walking up through the forest and out onto the high-level glen. The seven mile walk can be shortened. Or take the goat path which branches off a few hundred yards above the house and takes you to the other end of the village. The return journey along the loch side can be punctuated by refreshments in all three hotels!. Another walk along the disused railway line that passes the top of the garden can be extended to take in the old ruined village of Morell which sits high on the hill to the west of St Fillans.

St Fillans is on the eastern border of the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, and is less than one and a half hours from Oban, Fort William, St Andrews, Edinburgh, Glasgow .....

As for golf, do not underestimate the St Fillans Golf Club, a scenic and challenging nine-hole course. There are 18-hole courses in Comrie, Crieff and Killin as well. Not to mention Gleneagles, one of Scotland's premier golf venues just 20 miles away. Non golfers in the party can enjoy Auchterarder nearby - Individual up-market boutique shopping in a small market town!

Cyclists can take the south side road along the loch to Lochearnhead and there join the Sustrans cycle track which utilises the old railway line and takes you to Killin and beyond.

As well as enjoying all of the above, Children will want to visit the various attractions locally, such as horse riding in Killin or at the Crieff Hydro, the wild life park at Auchingarrich near Comrie or the Safari Park at Blairdrummond.
